Ch 126 Dangers of Pride and Casualness

This week was a bad week for me. I lost control of who I am and should've been better. I was prideful in what I was capable of and I lost control and I ended up hurting my companion. In our first companionship inventory, he opened up and Elder Hill sometimes feels like he isn't good enough to be a zone leader. And all I've done is make him feel like this fear is real. Elder Hill is a great missionary and a great zone leader, I dragged him down when I should've built him up. Through our work ethic was incredible and we had public victories, I didn't help him prepare to have those small private victories to become more obedient or to have greater love towards others. I failed him as a companion. We have been wallowing in self-pity since Saturday. and I know it's because it's my fault.

I never intended to hurt him. I never intended for bad things to happen. But because I didn't intend to be exactly obedient. Because I intended to be casual, he got hurt, and we're still hurting. I messed up. and but we'll work through it. We stumbled upon a few verses in Alma 42:30-31

30 O my son, I desire that ye should deny the justice of God no more. Do not endeavor to excuse yourself in the least point because of your sins, by denying the justice of God; but do you let the justice of God, and his mercy and his long-suffering have full sway in your heart; and let it bring you down to the dust in humility.

31 And now, O my son, ye are called of God to preach the word unto this people. And now, my son, go thy way, declare the word with truth and soberness, that thou mayest bring souls unto repentance, that the great plan of mercy may have a claim upon them. And may God grant unto you even according to my words. Amen.

We're working on it together and hopefully, we can get there. I love him so much, I love Jesus Christ for his infinite atonement for us, and I'm ready to change.
